Brief History

The belgian hare was founded in Belgium in the mid 1800's and when imported to England became very popular. It was imported into the United States around 1900. By the 1920's there were over 60,000 in the U.S. bringing prices as high as $5000. Today they are one of the rarer domestic rabbit breeds.
