Brief History

It is believed that English Lops may have originated in the equator area of Africa. Heat has an impact on ear length. They were in England and Germany during the 1800's. In England they were one of the early superior breeds, and often won best in show. It was the 15th official breed in the United States, accepted by what was known as the National Pet Stock in 1914.
